About IEEE GOLD

Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) was developed to help young professionals transition from from being a student to entering the professional world. If you are an IEEE Member who has received your first professional degree within the last ten years, you are automatically part of IEEE GOLD!

What is GOLD ?

Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) is a program developed to help student members transition to young professionals. GOLD offers programs and services to graduating students, recent graduates and young engineers.

How do I become a member of GOLD ?

After you have graduated with your first professional degree, IEEE will identify you as an IEEE GOLD member.  This is an automatic process.  The IEEE GOLD identifier covers a 10-year period from this first graduation.  If you continue your education into graduate work after graduation and remain an IEEE Student Member, you will not be identified as an IEEE GOLD member.

How was GOLD established ?

IEEE GOLD was first conceived in 1996, and was launched later that year at the IEEE Sections Congress.  Since then, GOLD has moved forward in forming affinity groups, organized for professional development activities (technical, social, personal development, etc.).
